Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On this historic day–January 20, 2025–we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on what would have been his 96th year. Representatives from the Dr. Maya Angelou Foundation and the Estate of Dr. Maya Angelou were honored to be part of this impactful occasion at the 2025 Beloved Community Global Summit, led by The King Center (@thekingcenter) and hosted by Microsoft Atlanta.

The summit focused on AI, freedom, justice, and democracy and proved to be an insightful and profound experience. It has reminded us of the urgency to align technological progress with the principles Dr. King championed. As we reflect on his dream, we are committed to ensuring that advancements in AI promote equity, preserve human dignity, and protect essential human rights like employment, housing, and healthcare.

Dr. Maya Angelou’s words resonate deeply today: 'We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.' This sentiment inspires us to take action to the challenges of our time and ensure that technology serves all humanity with integrity and fairness, just as Dr. King envisioned for society.
